Addaction chief executive resigns

The chief executive of the UK's largest specialist drug and alcohol treatment charity has left her post with immediate effect.

Addaction confirmed today that chief executive Deborah Cameron has decided to "pursue other interests" after three years leading the organisation's work.

William Butler, currently Addaction's chief operating officer, will become acting chief executive until a permanent replacement is appointed.

Addaction is Britain's biggest specialist drug and alcohol treatment charity, supporting nearly 30,000 people with drug and alcohol problems.

The charity has more than 70 services in England and Scotland for individuals and their families, including dedicated services supporting young people and their families affected by problem drug and alcohol use.
