What is it? Pharmaceutical manufacturer GlaxoSmithKline funds the Impact Awards, which are managed in partnership with The King's Fund. The awards are given to charities that improve people's health in the UK.
How much is on offer? Up to eight winners of the awards will receive £25,000. There are also up to four "highly commended" awards of £5,000 and up to three runners-up awards of £3,000. There is also the separate Impact Champions Award programme for organisations that were shortlisted for an Impact Award between 2000 and 2009. Up to eight awards are available, valued at a total of £194,000.
What will it fund? The awards are open to registered charities that are at least three years old with a total annual income of between £10,000 and £1.5m. Charities must be able to point to a track record of achievement in community health issues. Judges will be looking for effective partnership working with other agencies.
