What is it? Awards for Young Musicians (AYM) is a charity set up following the death of Robert Lewin. The musician requested that money made from the sale of his collection of musical instruments and memorabilia be used to help talented young instrumentalists from disadvantaged backgrounds to reach their potential by offering financial help to meet the cost of training. AYM continues this work through fundraising and supports musicians aged between five and 17.
How much is on offer? Awards of between £200 and £2,000 are available. To be eligible for funding, applicants must have settled status in the UK on 1 September 2011, be 17 or under at 31 August 2012 and have a demonstrable financial need and proven musical skills and abilities.
