What is it? While latest NHS figures suggest the number of young people drinking alcohol is falling, binge drinking among this generation remains a problem, according to Comic Relief. This funding package has been created to improve support for 11- to 25-year-olds with alcohol problems. The charity says improving support can help reduce school exclusion, teenage pregnancy and youth offending rates.
How much is on offer? Grants of between £25,000 and £40,000 per year for a maximum of three years.
What will it fund? Among projects that can be funded are those that work directly with young alcoholics and those that run campaigns warning young people of the dangers. Projects providing outreach work, as well as therapy sessions are among those considered. Those allocated funding will need to prove they can deliver one of four outcomes: reducing young people's drinking; increasing access to support; improving training for those working with young people with alcohol problems; and improving links between alcohol and young people's services.
When is the deadline? 28 October
