Funding to improve the lives of those with disabilities or special educational needs through communications expertise

What is it? The telecommunications company Cable & Wireless Worldwide has launched a charitable foundation to improve the lives of those with disabilities or special educational needs through communications expertise.

The foundation hopes to build long-term relationships with the not-for-profit organisations and individuals by providing technical expertise, its employees' time and funding. Cable & Wireless staff will build partnerships with the organisations and offer them communication solutions.

How much is on offer? The foundation has set aside £200,000 in cash to support selected partners, plus an expected £100,000 of funding from employees. Next year, it is aiming to donate a total of £1m.
