Youth Club Activities: Recycled art

Vanessa Rogers suggests seven activities to help young people get creative with unwanted materials.

This month's resource pack contains ideas for taking scraps, leftovers and rubbish and recycling them into something creative. Great to use with young people of all abilities, these activities can be used in a youth centre or out on the street and are a good introduction to larger recycled art projects.

 

BIG SCULPTURE

Aim This is a team warm-up game to introduce the idea of recycled art.

You will need

How to do it Divide the young people into two teams. Give each team five large plastic rubbish bags, some balloons and a stack of newspapers.

The task is for each team to create a huge human figure using blown-up balloons, scrunched up newspaper and the bags. Call "start" and time the activity.
