Work Pack: Youth Club Activities - Online Safety

5 mins read Youth Work
There are increased concerns about online safety and cyberbullying in the UK. This resource pack by Vanessa Rogers offers ideas to raise awareness, discuss issues and promote online safety with young people.

DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY WARM-UP

Aim: This is a warm-up exercise to introduce the concept of cyberbullying.

You will need:

- Paper and pencils for each team

- Red marker pens

- Prize (optional)

How to do it:

Split the group into two teams. Explain that this is a team game and that the winning side will be the group that manages to accumulate the most points.

Hand each group a piece of paper and a pen. Now ask each team to make a list of as many ways to communicate using digital technology they can think of.

The list should include:
- Text messages
- Mobile phone cameras
- Mobile phone calls
- Emails
- Online chatrooms
- Instant messaging
- Social networking websites
