This new series of briefings aims to provide voluntary organisations working with children and young people with analysis of key policy issues affecting the sector. Available online, they aim to enable and encourage more voluntary organisations to get their voices heard within policy-making circles. Each briefing follows a rough structure of background, policy context, findings from research, legal issues, issues for the voluntary and community sector and further resources. The first set of six available cover knife, gun and gang crime, the social exclusion agenda, access to services in rural areas, third sector involvement in public service delivery, community cohesion and local government reform. The briefings are part of a partnership project established by voluntary sector bodies and the Cabinet Office.
