What do you do?

For the past two years, I've been working at Oriel High School near Great Yarmouth, with my colleague Emily Lown. We are based at the school and take an operational policing role within the school grounds. The aim is to address issues such as bullying, truancy, street crime and general antisocial behaviour.

How do you make a difference?

My presence is intended to create a calmer, less disruptive learning environment for pupils and teachers. Building good relationships with the police and an attitude of personal responsibility pays dividends as children grow up. Ofsted gave Oriel special measures status a few years ago, but crime and antisocial behaviour around the school have now dropped significantly.
