The Britkid website, www.britkid.org, is an engaging vehicle for ideas about diversity. It uses the format of fictional representative characters reflecting the complexity of 21st Century British identity. The characters explain about their lives and personalities, and we get details of interactions with friends and places in the town of Britchester.
For instance, we meet John the atheist Geordie, whose teasing of mixed-race Welsh friend Megan about her country folk's alleged fondness for sheep starts a debate about racism and harassment, and David the Jewish Scot, who has a crush on a Muslim girl called Mumtaz.
