I was a Brownie and a Guide. I think I had every one of the badges. I was also in lots of sports clubs. By the time I was 16, I was also giving reading support to younger students, plus working as a dry-ski slope instructor with young people.
Any career plans at that stage?
I went to university and did sports science and psychology because the advice was "do something you enjoy". After that I got a job leading adventurous activities with young people on the Isle of Wight. Some of the young people were from inner-city areas and hadn't seen the sea before so we were giving them new experiences.
