How I got here: Renata Chavda, London Borough of Brent

1 min read Youth Work
Renata Chavda thought she'd end up running a business until she discovered how much she enjoyed working with young people.

Did you always want to work with young people?

No, I didn't think this was an area of work I'd get into. I suppose if anything I thought I'd end up running a business.

When did you start working with young people?

I got a job with Harrow Council as a manager responsible for areas such as street cleaning and graffiti removal. Part of the remit involved going into schools with our equipment and giving the young people some hands-on learning. I eventually took voluntary redundancy but had enjoyed the contact with young people. Later I took the chance for a part-time role in Brent as youth participation officer. Now I'm full time.
