Reunion
Name of project: Reunion
Aim: To increase youth workers' understanding of participative theatre and engage young people in a stimulating performance
Funding: £20,000 from Arts Council England and £3,500 each from Leeds and Bradford youth services
A trio of 30-something adults return to the youth club where they used to hang out 15 years ago. This is the concept for an innovative project that will see Leeds-based Theatre Company Blah Blah Blah work closely with both Leeds and Bradford youth services.
The Reunion initiative will take this theatre experience into youth centres and, crucially, work closely with youth workers to help them make the most of it. About 10 youth workers from Bradford and 25 from Leeds are taking part in creative professional development workshops to give them experience of participative theatre, introduce them to drama techniques and build their confidence in using them with young people.
