
It wasn't very long ago that bullying was considered "one of those things", part of a normal childhood. But experience shows the long lasting and toxic effects that sustained bullying can have on a child, even on a whole school, where a culture of bullying can teach a lesson about the effects of power.
Many of the old patterns remain. Boys can be physical, girls use their verbal talents. Both will exclude, or these days, use the internet to target someone. Certainly many children are vulnerable: the shy, or the quiet, but a bully needs nothing special to pick on. Anyone dubbed "different" can become prey.
