Chips for youth workers

Bless the Association of Principal Youth and Community Officers, or Apyco as it was wont to be called, pronounced App-ee-co. It has just changed its name to the Confederation of Heads of Young Peoples Services, or Chyps, pronounced chips, as everyone but the organisation itself will be calling it from now on.

Chyps, sorry, the Confederation, earnestly told our intrepid reporter that it did not want to be known as Chyps. Which does beg the question why call yourself something so easily acronymed?

I love the new name. It makes me think of heads of young people's services roaring down the Californian highway on motorbikes, chasing evil doers.
