Danny Volino, manager at the Brunswick Club for Young People in Fulham, southwest London, believes that the best way to decide where to go is to consult the young people themselves. "Draw up a list and let them have a say," he advises. "This way they feel like they have ownership from the start."
While the emphasis is normally on having fun, day trips can also bring benefits such as boosting young people's self-esteem and improving their social skills. And they can be a valuable way of encouraging teamwork.
