
The girl, now aged 19, is arguing that the placement was not lawful as the local authority failed to provide her with appropriate accommodation as directed through Section 20 of the 1989 Children Act.
She also claims that the London borough failed to provide her with the necessary information to make an informed choice on her accommodation, according to the teenager’s legal firm Simpson Millar.
The High Court has granted permission for a full hearing, which is expected to take place before the end of July.
This legal action follows last month’s confirmation by the Department for Education that it will regulate supported accommodation for 16-and 17-year-old looked after children and care leavers.
