With the number of vulnerable children and families expected to increase significantly over the coming months as a result of the economic crisis and trauma caused by the pandemic, health and care agencies across the public and voluntary sector are preparing for a rise in referrals for support.

Set against this backdrop, experts and leading practitioners from across the sector will share key insights and practice approaches to support professionals to commission and provide services that deliver improvements for children, young people and families.

CYP Now’s Early Help conference will run 10 live digital sessions over four consecutive days from 23-26 November.

In addition to the two-hour live sessions, there will be live Q&As with the presenters, on-demand access to all sessions for up to three months after the live conference, and opportunities to engage online with a range of exhibitors and view their products or services.

Live sessions include:

  • The impact of Covid-19 on national and local children's services: Sara Tough, Chair, Families, Communities and Young People Policy Committee, Association of Directors of Children's Services; and DCS, Norfolk County Council

  • Commissioning in the wake of Covid-19: Kathy Evans, Chief Executive of Children England

  • Diverting young people away from crime: Chief Inspector Jack Rowlands from the Metropolitan Police Violence Reduction Unit, and founder of Divert

  • Innovating in response to the crisis: Stephanie Douglas, Head of Service, Early Years, Doncaster Borough Council

  • Supporting families during Covid-19 through remote and online delivery: Matt Buttery, Chief Executive Officer, Triple P UK

  • Reducing the speech, language and communication attainment gap: James Hempsall, Director, Hempsall's

The conference will be of interest to senior managers of children and young people services, commissioners, charity chief executives, policy officers and academics, as well as practitioners working in early help teams, children’s centres, Troubled Families teams, mental health services and public health teams.
