Funding for community projects in the areas where Newsquest Media Group operates

Funding Grants range from £1,000 to £5,000. Larger grants are occasionally made for exceptional projects.

Funder The Gannett Foundation is the charitable arm of Gannett, the company that owns Newsquest Media Group. The foundation provides grants to organisations in areas where Newsquest newspapers are in circulation. The Gannett Foundation is based in the US, so The Quartet Community Foundation manages the fund on behalf of Newsquest in the UK.

Aim The Gannett Foundation's aim is to invest in communities where Newsquest operate. It supports projects that take a creative approach to issues including education and neighbourhood improvements, economic development, youth development, community problem solving, assistance to disadvantaged people, conservation and cultural enrichment. It also offers grants for journalism education and training projects.

Who can apply? Charities that want to provide services for local communities are eligible for funding. The foundation will not fund national or regional organisations unless they are proposing to address specific local needs. The foundation does not support individuals or projects that promote religious causes or medical or research organisations.

Contact Contact your local Newsquest office for details and application forms.
