Funding to help disadvantaged young people under the age of 18 to access sport or fulfil their sporting ambitions

Funding The minimum amount is usually £100 and the maximum is £5,000.

Funder Legendary cricket umpire and professional Yorkshireman Harold "Dickie" Bird MBE established this fund in March 2004 to help financially disadvantaged young people to participate in the sport of their choice.

Aim Grants are designed to help impoverished young people access sport or fulfil their sporting ambitions.

Who can apply? Individuals under the age of 18. No applications can be accepted from groups. Applicants will need to show that their circumstances are such that they are unable to raise the finance necessary through any other means.

Deadline The foundation trustees meet once every two months to consider grant applications.
