Financial support for any positive activity for young people, including sports, music or drama activities

Funding Up to £3m is available. In the first round of funding, grants ranged from £839 to £34,939. The arts and culture strand of Cashback for Communities was announced in May and will see an additional £600,000 given to youth dance, music, drama and other arts projects. The fund will encourage Scottish businesses to match every pound of government spending.

Funder The Scottish government is using money seized from criminals to give to communities across Scotland. The aim is to use the money to help local youth organisations provide free local activities, such as sports tournaments, shows, gigs and dance events. It was launched in January 2008 and is the nation's flagship programme for young people's activities.

Aim The aim is to support any positive activity for young people, including sports, music or drama activities.

Who can apply? Organisations and individuals who wish to start or extend positive projects for young people. Groups in Argyll & Bute, East Lothian and North Lanarkshire will not be eligible to apply in round two due to a high number of applications in the first round from these areas.
