Cashback for Communities

1 min read Youth Work
What it is: The Scottish government is using money seized from criminals to give to communities across Scotland. The aim is to use the money to help local youth organisations provide free local activities, such as sports tournaments, shows, gigs and dance events.

It was launched in January 2008 and is the nation's flagship programme for young people's activities. The main objective is to provide a wide range of positive activities for young people between the ages of 10 and 19. Round two of applications is now open and will close on 26 September.

How much is on offer: Up to £3m is available. In the first round of funding, grants ranged from £839 to £34,939. The arts and culture strand of Cashback for Communities was announced in May and will see an additional £600,000 given to youth dance, music, drama and other arts projects.
