NCB Now: Stockport-based children's service 'outstanding'

1 min read
Meridian, the Together Trust's short-break service for children and young people with autism spectrum conditions, has been awarded "outstanding" status by Ofsted.

The exceptional level of care and support that users are offered has been recognised as "outstanding" in all six of the Ofsted-assessed categories.

The Stockport-based service provides young people aged five to 17 with a safe, caring and supportive environment where they can join in a range of fun activities such as bowling, shopping and arts and crafts.

As well as getting to grips with life skills in the kitchen, enjoying a secure outdoor play area and using a fully equipped sensory room, young people are given the opportunity to access the local community through person-centered social integration and learning.

Sarah Hopwood, manager of Meridian, said: "Meridian is vitally important to all of the families we support, giving them and their children the break they need. We pride ourselves on offering the best environment we can, so that the young people want to return again and again."
