Praise for autistic short break service

Careers Health Social Care
A service in the north west offering short breaks for severely autistic children has been awarded an outstanding rating by Ofsted.

Care and education charity the Together Trust's Meridian service provides overnight stays for children with high-level needs on the autistic spectrum and severe learning difficulties.

As well as offering respite, the service runs an outreach arm which gives specialised support to young people and families, including short trips and work within the home environment.

A spokesman for the Together Trust said: "The praise and delight of parents who access our services is more than enough to motivate staff in what can be a high-risk activity that needs very careful assessment."
