Armed Forces charity SSAFA launched Forces Help Adoption Service for military families in 2003.

It was rated “good” during its last full inspection in December 2016.

Following a visit from Ofsted in November last year it has been upgraded to outstanding for its overall experiences and progress of service users. How well children, young people and adults are helped and protected and the effectiveness of leaders and managers also received the inspectorate’s top rating.

The agency has a focus on placing older children, groups of siblings and children with complex needs for adoption, the report says, and “is making a significant difference to children by building strong and resilient adoptive families”.
