NCB Now: NCB announces new chief executive

NCB is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Hilary Emery as its new chief executive. She will take over from Sir Paul Ennals on 1 August.

Dr Hilary Emery has extensive experience of working with and for the benefit of children and young people, beginning her career as a primary school teacher. Following her role as dean of education and psychology at what is now the University of Worcester, she became an adviser to the Department for Education. In 2007, she joined the Training and Development Agency for Schools, managing the successful implementation of extended services through schools and local authorities across England.

Dame Gillian Pugh, chair of NCB, said: "We are delighted that Hilary will be joining NCB.

Her rich and varied experience reflects NCB's commitment to supporting children and young people across a range of settings."

Dr Hilary Emery, incoming NCB chief executive, said: "I am excited at the challenge of leading NCB and taking forward its commitment to using evidence and research to support policy, practice and improvement. I am passionate about making a difference to the lives of children and young people."
