
Nottinghamshire County Council has announced plans to close seven youth centres. The Nottingham Post reports that the council intends to restructure the youth service, saving the authority £1.3m. The move would see seven of the county’s 38 youth centres close, as well as six mobile youth facilities.
A 13-year-old is set to be jointly in charge of a £120,000 budget after becoming the youngest ever youth councillor for Islington. The Islington Gazette reports that Zenari Singh was chosen to represent the borough’s young people alongside 11 successful candidates.
Plymouth Council has announced that an electronic voting system will be in place for UK Youth Parliament elections being held next month. The Plymouth Herald reports that it is hoped the move will encourage more under-18s to have their say and get involved in local issues affecting them.
