Youth work: Lib Dems argue for detached support

The MP for Westmorland and Lonsdale told Young People Now: "If you've got one in four young people not involved in any extracurricular activity, these young people are most likely to be at risk of being in trouble. It doesn't matter how many decent facilities you provide, the chances are that those young people will need to be encouraged to get involved."

The Liberal Democrats favour a policy of higher taxation for the highest earners, with the money invested in public services to help people in society who are less well off. Farron believes investment in high-quality services that young people will be interested in attending is vital for dealing with youth crime, and other problems faced by young people.
