Youth Politics: Extremism tackled by young people

The group is one of seven set up by the Home Office after the London bombings in July, all of which have submitted proposals.

Abdal Ullah, independent member of the Metropolitan Police Authority and convener of the working group for young people, said: "The Home Secretary Charles Clarke seemed to like our recommendations as a positive way to engage with young people."

Recommendations included improving youth service provision for young Muslims, and asking the UK Youth Parliament to encourage involvement in debates with young Muslims around the country and to be more active in its engagement with Muslim youth.
