Recommendations made by the group, led by convener Abdal Ullah, an independent member of the Metropolitan Police Authority, called for young Muslims to be at the forefront of combating negative perceptions of Islam.
Ullah said: "We want to empower young Muslims by developing a youth parliament model and are working to attract young Muslim representatives and empower the organisation to engage with young Muslims."
Andy Hamflett, chief executive of the UK Youth Parliament, said: "It's important that young Muslims themselves can identify a new generation of leaders to inspire and reassure them."
The group is one of seven groups looking at tackling extremism that was set up following the July bombings in London. The full report from the working groups is due out on 7 October.
