The National Association of Connexions Partnerships' response to Youth Matters calls on the Government to outline the minimum services young people can expect at specific stages in their development, particularly at points of transition. It also wants clearer lines of accountability, stating the need to know who will be responsible for what.
In Youth Matters, the Government says that it will provide local authorities with a new set of standards to guarantee minimum levels of youth services, including access to two hours a week of sporting activity and other activities.
But fears of inconsistency were widely voiced last week at a consultation meeting organised by the association for nearly 100 chief executives and chairs of Connexions partnerships.
