Youth Justice: Youth Justice Board plans diversity audit

The board is also introducing a performance indicator on diversity, designed to ensure the number of Black and minority ethnic offenders is in proportion to the number of Black and minority ethnic young people locally. The plans will need to be in place by next April.

Each youth offending team will have to audit its practice and the needs of the community.

Ellie Roy, chief executive of the board, said: "I accept that teams are under huge pressure, but diversity is such an important issue that I am unapologetic for saying we've got to have this."
