The committee was taking evidence from Gus John, the chief executive of the Gus John Partnership, and Tony Sewell, director of the Generating Genius programme, as part of its ongoing inquiry into the issue.
Sewell said: "I want the committee to be more positive. Are we going to come up with something bland, or are we going to come up with big ideas?"
