Youth Justice News: Antisocial Behaviour - Councils offeredfinancial support

The Home Office has agreed to provide extra funding to 40 councils struggling with the problem, as part of its respect drive.

One of the five aims of this programme is to fund constructive activities for young people.

A spokeswoman for the Home Office said the department is working with authorities to agree what commitments they will make in return for the funding.

The Home Office has invited authorities that could benefit from extra support to apply. The successful areas, and details of the funding, are due to be announced later this month.

The crime-reduction charity Nacro said the funds should go on early intervention to stop crime.
