Youth justice: Birmingham cuts threaten youth offending work

A council spokeswoman said: Efficiency savings are being identified across the whole of the directorate. Specific service reductions have not been decided at this stage. However, we are committed to ensuring that there are no redundancies.

Labour councillor Sir Albert Bore criticised the decision.

Half a million pounds is a lot of money to find and the youth offending service deals with vulnerable young people, he said. It is not clear where the money will be cut. They said that the savings would be made in a way as to not impact on frontline services. But we will have to wait and see.
