
The survey of 50 heads of service, conducted by the National Youth Agency (NYA) and the Confederation of Heads of Young People's Services (Chyps), suggests that 82 per cent are facing cuts.
Three-quarters of respondents said youth work budgets will be cut while almost half said Connexions will be affected too. More than a third of participants reported cuts in integrated youth support services, while 11 per cent said targeted youth support is under threat.
Fiona Blacke, chief executive of the NYA, acknowledged the challenge all local authorities are facing, but said cuts to targeted youth support could see some of the most vulnerable young people denied support.
