The 34.5m Resettlement and Aftercare Provision programme works with young offenders on detention and training orders.
Young people on the scheme receive up to 25 hours a week of intensive support through their youth offending team for up to six months. They get help finding work and accommodation, as well as with drug or alcohol problems.
A typical case is "Joe", a 17-year-old who was referred to Leeds Youth Offending Service for alcohol problems in April. With the help of his programme worker, Joe has been able to find a permanent address, which has allowed him to get medical help with a knee problem, and has significantly reduced his use of drugs and alcohol.
