Youth Green Paper: Extra funds to help carry out measures

A senior government source told Young People Now that Hughes had managed to secure "a bit more money" and, together with junior youth minister Maria Eagle, had significantly improved the policy document, to be titled Youth Matters.

The future of Connexions is also brighter. The service will not be scrapped, said the source, although it will have to work through children's trusts.

Youth Matters was due to be published earlier this week but is now expected to be unveiled next Monday (18 July).

During a debate on youth policy in Parliament last week, Eagle said: "It is tremendously important that youth work should be more accessible to a wider range of young people."
