Last week, Carol Pounder said she knew nothing more about the death of her son, 14-year-old Adam Rickwood, than when the police came to her door last August. She said the police, youth justice agencies, social services and the secure training centre had carried out investigations, but no findings had been passed on.
She said: "There will be an inquest, but they are talking about another two years."
Adam was found hanged at Hassockfield Secure Training Centre in County Durham on 9 August 2004. He was on remand facing a charge of wounding.
Deborah Coles, co-director of pressure group Inquest, said: "This is typical of the appalling way families are treated."
