Carol Pounder's son Adam Rickwood was 14 years old when he was found hanging by his shoelaces at Hassockfield Secure Training Centre in County Durham in 2004, hours after he was physically restrained by staff. The inquest into his death concluded last Thursday (31 May) and ruled that he intended to take his own life.
Pounder said she was unhappy that it did not cover the legality of the restraint used on her son.
"It's disgusting," she told Young People Now. "The whole investigation was flawed. We're going to try for a judicial review or a public inquiry."
Rickwood was on remand facing a charge of wounding and had written letters to his mother threatening to kill himself.
