YOUTH CRIME: Former Brixton chief of police takes over Met's youth policy

Paddick, who oversaw the relaxation of cannabis policing in Lambeth, will define the Met's approach to young people. He will also become a member of the Association of Chief Police Officers' youth issues group, which helps define youth policing across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Paddick said: "Youth policy is crucial to the success of the Metropolitan Police in achieving its overall aim of making London one of safest cities in the world.

He continued: "A large proportion of crime is perpetrated by young people and if we can help young people avoid being drawn into a life of crime then we're going to contribute to making London safer."
