Youth chief body plans conferences

Youth Work
The body that represents heads of youth services has applied for government funding to hold a series of conferences with senior managers from Connexions and youth offending teams.

The Association of Principal Youth and Community Officers (Apyco) is seeking £20,000 from the Department for Children, Schools and Families to get the conferences up and running from next March.

It proposes holding a national event and a series of regional conferences where senior managers from different agencies can come together to discuss how they can work together better and improve services for the young people they support.

Susie Roberts, chief executive of Apyco, said: "It makes sense to bring together colleagues from youth justice, information, advice and guidance services, and those involved in delivering positive activities. There needs to be more joined-up working now we have integrated services."
