The club runs on Fridays between 5.00pm and 7.30pm and aims to provide an alterative to the more structured youth projects that operate in the area.
Susie Bowers, support worker for Drum Housing, which is organising the project, said: "There are other clubs in the area but these tend to start after 7pm and attract mainly older teenagers. Here it's more like old-school youth work where 11- to 14-year-olds can play pool and just hang around."
The project is staffed by one trained youth worker who is assisted by volunteers.
