Young to get say on foreign affairs

1 min read Youth Work
The influence of young people from the UK on foreign affairs is to be given a boost with the launch of the Young UK Ambassadors programme.

The government has given the programme £270,000 over three years to help young people get across their views to international organisations such as the European Union, the Commonwealth and United Nations. It will also see up to 50 young people a year attending international events.

The work is being led by the British Youth Council (BYC) with support from Funky Dragon, the Northern Ireland Youth Forum, the Scottish Youth Parliament and the UK Youth Parliament.

Daniel Smith, head of international at the BYC, said: "The programme will give young people an opportunity to not only think global, act local but to think local and act global."
