Sukbir Kaur, from the Armley area of the city, has been chosen for the post with the aim of communicating the views and opinions of young people to local police officers and the public.
Kaur came to the attention of West Yorkshire Police after coming runner-up in a competition to write a song about the "fight against drugs".
Kevin Chippendale, education liaison officer at West Yorkshire Police, said: "By appointing her we hope to get young people's messages across to our staff and members of the public."
