Youth4Youth is co-ordinated by a group of young people working with social regeneration charity East Potential. The group has already awarded £2,000 to local projects, including giving £1,000 to a drug and alcohol mentoring project for 11- to 19-year-olds, and is now looking for further projects to apply for funding.
Opeyemi Aromi, 22, who runs the mentoring project, said: "My project relies on volunteers so now I have £1,000 to put towards their expenses, and towards boosting the profile of the project. I can really get it off the ground."
