But the concept behind the jargon is as valid as ever, and the recent children's green paper is just the latest initiative to promote closer working between agencies. At the Young People Now National Youth Conference in London on 26 November, attendees will learn more about the green paper.
This attempt to foster closer working among agencies is not new. Since Labour came to power it has put various new structures in place, such as youth offending teams, Connexions partnerships and, at national level, the Children and Young People's Unit.
These initiatives have faced challenges in breaking down boundaries.
The green paper's prescription for ever-closer relationships among agencies is likely to face similar challenges.
