Akram Hussain, 15, has been elected as the young mayor of Tower Hamlets. More than 4,000 11- to 18-year-olds voted in the east London borough's election, in which Akram defeated 19 other candidates. He will take over from Jahid Ahmed who has held the post for the last year. The role will see Akram representing young people across Tower Hamlets to ensure their views and ideas are listened to.
