Young carers work to be evaluated

Social Care
A fresh way to assess projects that help young carers has been developed by the Princess Royal Trust for Carers and the University of Nottingham.

The evaluation tool collects information on different projects and compares their performance and impact. It was developed with money from Comic Relief. Alex Fox, assistant director for policy and service development at the Princess Royal Trust for Carers, said: "It's a before-and-after questionnaire for young people, which looks at the care young people are taking on and their mental health and wellbeing."

The trust will use the tool to examine the effectiveness of the projects it is to support through its Young Carers Grant Programme.
