1 min read
What do you do? I am responsible for providing specialist advice across the organisation on our four key target groups and the issues they face: offenders; unemployed; educational under-achievers; and those in or leaving care.

What was the highlight of the past week? I work as a volunteer mentorfor a care leaver and I was lucky enough to arrange for my mentee toattend the film premiere of The History Boys, which she thought wasgreat.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job? Meeting our volunteermentors and being inspired by their stories and passion to make adifference.

What is the toughest decision you have had to take during yourcareer?

Whether or not to give a repeat offender yet another chance to turntheir life around.

What other departments or organisations do you work with? On aday-to-day basis I work with other children and youth charities, as wellas liaise with government departments. I am currently working with anumber of other organisations to promote a showcase of creative talentfrom people in care, called Futures, at the Tate Britain. This eventwill launch National Care Leavers' Week, and takes places on the 23October. Much of the coverage of people from care is negative anddepressing, but this event will celebrate the fantastic creativepotential of those in care through film, poetry and fashion.
